2015 Makeup work for Internship

If you were unable to complete your 24 hours for the year, here is your makeup assignment-
For every 2 hours, select one change that has been made to the rules of a sport (the more recent, the better)
The rule must have been instated to reduce injuries.

1- State the rule- how was it changed?
2- When was it changed?
3- Why was it changed? What types of injuries were occurring before the change?
4- Has the rule been effective? Why or how?

If you missed a sport-
For the sport, find an injury video on youtube
Record/reference the url
Describe what happens in the video, and what the injury likely is.
  • What was the mechanism of injury? (What caused it?)
  • Could it have been prevented?
  • What would your initial treatment be?
  • Is this injury common for that sport? (look it up)
  • What IS the most common injury for that sport?

Makeup for 2nd Quarter Hours

Make a "how to" video for one of the following procedures- comment on this blog with the link to the video - each on is worth 2 hours, so if you need 10 hours, you will need to do 5 videos. 


  • Elbow Tape
  • Groin Wrap
  • Hand/Wrist Tape
  • Assisting athlete off the field
  • HOPS assessment on the field
  • Assisted Hip flexor, side lying quadriceps, and hamstring PNF stretches
  • Shoulder sequence of stretches
